The New York Giants (4-7), the current NFC East leaders after 12 weeks in this bizarro season, head to the Pacific Northwest this Sunday to face the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks (8-3).
Per BetMGM, Seattle has opened as an early 7.5-point favorite over the Giants with the line listed as high as 8 or 8.5 points by some oddsmakers. The over/under has yet to be listed.
Seattle played on Monday night defeating Philadelphia, 23-17, to officially vault the Giants into a first place tie with Washington (4-7) in the East. New York swept their season series with the WFT so by virtue of the tiebreaker, the Giants are in first.
The Philadelphia loss, combined with the Giants’ 19-17 win in Cincinnati on Sunday, jettisoned them from 14th seed in the NFC to the fourth seed in one fell swoop. Seattle is currently the second seed in the NFC behind 9-2 New Orleans and ahead of the Green Bay Packers (8-3). The Giants are No. 4 (as a division leader) followed by the L.A. Rams (7-4), Tampa Bay (7-5) and Arizona (6-5).
The Giants have won three straight games and are 7-4 against the spread this year and have covered four of the last five games. They did not cover the 6.5 spread this past week in Cincinnati, surrendering a garbage-time touchdown to the Bengals in the final minutes.
Seattle is 6-5 against the spread and 5-0 overall at home this season. They have covered the spread just once in their last four contests.
