The first week of the 2020 regular season is officially in the books and the New York Giants find themselves in an all too familiar spot: near the bottom of the NFC East.

The Giants fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-16, on Monday Night Football and immediately set themselves back to start the year. And while there were reasons for optimism, the losing is taking a toll on the fan base.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how the NFC East shapes up after Week 1:

Washington Football Team (1-0)

Who could have imagined Washington would be leading the NFC East after Week 1? Probably not many, but here we are. Despite less than stellar play, the Washington team managed to piece together a 13-point fourth quarter to upset the Philadelphia Eagles to open the year.

Dallas Cowboys (0-1)

The Cowboys may be inclined to blame it on a bad call (boy, that’s rich irony), but no matter what the excuse, they started the season 0-1 following a loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. They didn’t necessarily look bad, but they certainly didn’t look like a divisional superpower, either.

New York Giants (0-1)

The Joe Judge era in East Rutherford got off to a rough start as the Giants made it extra difficult on themselves against a fierce Pittsburgh Steelers defense. Two ill-advised Daniel Jones turnovers ultimately did the Giants in as their defense faded late.

Philadelphia Eagles (0-1)

By way of losing to a divisional opponent, the Eagles fend off the Giants to secure the early basement spot in the NFC East. Their offensive line is an absolute disaster, Carson Wentz always seems like one step away from an injury and they may have some issues on the ground. Several additional injuries won’t make it any easier on Philly’s roster.
