The New York Giants opened the week as 9.5-point road underdogs against the Philadelphia Eagles and as we enter the weekend, that spread has only gotten worse.
As of this writing, the Giants are now 10.5-point dogs at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 16. The over/under, which was set at 42.5 points to open the week, has dwindled a bit to 40.5.
With quarterback Daniel Jones out for the season and either Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm poised to replace him, it’s no surprise to see the over/under dip.
The Giants have also been dealing with a length injury list and a COVID-19 outbreak, so that likely contributed as well.
“We’re going to try to beat the Eagles. I think the Giants and Eagles is enough there to get everyone riled up to play. It’s a great rivalry, it’s a rivalry I grew up watching and there’s animosity there,” safety Logan Ryan said this week. “There’s a lot to play for because it’s a football game and honestly there’s just passion, there’s energy, they have a passionate fan base, we do as well, so there’s a lot to represent over this game and that’s enough there.
“Last year, whether they were competing or not, I know we’re going to go out there and compete and try to win the game. I’m sure they will, too. Obviously, it’s an important game for them, but it’s an important game for us, too.”
The Eagles are 7-6 against the spread this year. New York is 6-8.
