Giants nearly bottom out in Sports Illustrated’s post-draft power rankings

Despite a strong draft, the New York Giants nearly bottomed out in Sports Illustrated’s post-draft power rankings.

The New York Giants and general manager Dave Gettleman knocked the 2020 NFL Draft out of the park in the eyes of most, but it did little to sway those over at Sports Illustrated.

After handing the Giants one of their lowest draft grades (B), SI polled Albert Breer, Andrew Brandt, Gary Gramling, Mitch Goldich, Conor Orr and Jenny Vrentas to establish their post-draft power rankings. And unsurprisingly, the Giants nearly bottomed out.

28. NEW YORK GIANTS

Points in poll: 35
Highest-place vote: 25 (1 voter)
Lowest-place vote: 28 (3 voters)
Season result: 4-12, third place in NFC East

Goodbye, Eli. Hello, Joe Judge and the newest branch of the Bill Belichick coaching tree.

The only teams to do worse than the Giants were the Cincinnati Bengals (29), Carolina Panthers (30), Washington Redskins (31) and Jacksonville Jaguars (32).

Comparatively, the Philadelphia Eagles checked in at No. 5 overall and the Dallas Cowboys at No. 10 overall. And in the event anyone reading this cares, the New York Jets checked in at No. 26 overall.
