The New York Giants have not competed in several years, but are they among the three worst teams in the NFL? Perhaps more specifically, are they one of the league’s worst teams entering 2020?
CBS Sports certainly thinks so, and they placed Big Blue accordingly.
In their post-Super Bowl LIV power rankings, CBS Sports had the Giants all the way down near the very bottom, checking in at No. 30 overall.
They have a new coach in Joe Judge, who inherits a team with a lot of young talent. Can Daniel Jones take the next step?
The only two teams ranked lower than the Giants were the Detroit Lions (No. 31) and Cincinnati Bengals (No. 32). Even the Washington Redskins (No. 29) were ranked hire. Ditto the Cleveland Browns (No. 28).
While a ranking of No. 30 does seem somewhat harsh, it’s hard to present a counter-argument at this point. The Giants have been embarrassingly bad for nearly a decade now and are onto their fourth head coach (if you include Steve Spagnuolo) since Tom Coughlin’s departure in January of 2016.
Can Joe Judge be the guy who finally turns things around? It’s certainly possible, but he has a lengthy uphill climb ahead of him.
