Giants’ Nate Solder on Joe Judge: ‘The guy has toughness’

New York Giants LT Nate Solder is thrilled with the team’s hire of Joe Judge and recently raved about his toughness.

New York Giants left tackle Nate Solder already knows what to expect from new head coach Joe Judge having been around him during his days with the New England Patriots.

“I think it’s a fantastic hire,” Solder said, via Giants.com. “I think he brings a lot of the qualities that we need, so I’m really looking forward to that. I think his commitment to details, his discipline, his history of winning a lot of championships (five, including two at Alabama and three with the Patriots), I think those are all fantastic attributes.

“He’s a young guy (38), but he’s also a charismatic guy. He was in front of the whole team a lot as the special teams coach. I always kind of thought he was socially a ringleader of the other assistant coaches. I think it makes a lot of sense (that he’s a head coach).”

Many of Solder’s teammates are in for a rude awakening this spring and summer when Judge opens camp. No more Camp Tranquility like it was under Pat Shurmur and Ben McAdoo. Judge means business. Players will “do their job” or they will not have that job.

“So, talk about toughness, the guy has toughness,” Solder said.

And toughness is just what this Giants team needs.
