The New York Giants are already without quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) and expectations are that he’ll remain sidelined for several more weeks. Now they’re likely to be without Mike Glennon as well.
Glennon, who started in place of the injured Jones, was knocked around in Week 13. The Miami Dolphins were consistently at his throat and following the game, the veteran quarterback was diagnosed with a concussion.
With Glennon now in the league’s concussion protocol, the Giants are left extremely thin at quarterback. Jake Fromm, who was signed off of the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad last week, will likely take over as the starter in practice.
Behind Fromm, the Giants have Brian Lewerke on their practice squad and safety Logan Ryan as an emergency arm.
“Look, I don’t know if you guys saw my high school quarterback tape, but I’m going to put it out there, emergency. A lot like Tua, a lefty. I can throw 2 yard passes to the left. I’m accurate. I’m smart. I’m going to put it out there,” Ryan told reporters on Sunday.
All kidding aside, the Giants find themselves in a dire spot. Their offensive line play is leading to injures and they’re running out of capable bodies.
“Got to have the next man up mentality. And no matter if it’s Mike or if it’s D.J. or if it’s Jake, when the opportunities are there, the plays need to be made,” running back Saquon Barkley said.
Glennon, who did not leave the game, connected on 23 of his 44 pass attempts for 187 yards and one interception.
