When the New York Giants signed wide receiver Kenny Golladay, the idea was to make him one of Daniel Jones’ top targets and potentially help return the team to their winning ways.

Golladay, of course, missed some time during training camp and preseason due to a hamstring injury, although it looks like he will play in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos.

However, due to the injury, Golladay also missed out on building chemistry with Jones.

Just a few days until his first game in a Giants uniform, the team’s top receiver, who already warned that the offense may start slow, admitted he and Jones were “rusty.”

“Rusty for sure, but at the same time I’ve been playing football for quite some time (and) so has he,” Golladay told reporters on Friday. “Like I’ve been saying, it’s about repetitions in between while the defense is going, while the special teams is going, after practice. All of that plays a big role in this.”

The Giants have little time to put it all together and they need to have a sense of urgency not to fall behind in the NFC East early on in the season.

Jones has already developed good chemistry with both Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton. Jones and Slayton came into the league at the same time and the connection between the two showed some promise in their rookie year.

The Giants paid Golladay to be the No. 1 receiver and be the big, lengthy target that he has been with the Detroit Lions the last few years. Hopefully, Jones finds trust in Golladay more and more as the season goes along.
