New York Giants first-round draft pick, Kayvon Thibodeaux, currently has the second best odds to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, per Tipico.
Odds for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, per @tipico
Aidan Hutchinson +450
Kayvon Thibodeaux +550
Kyle Hamilton +700
Quay Walker +900
Sauce Gardner +1000
Jermaine Johnson +1000
Devin Lloyd +1000#Giants #Jets— Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) July 25, 2022
The Giants selected Kayvon Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft after his impressive collegiate career which included a Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2019, back-to-back First-team All-Pac-12 nominations in 2020 and 2021, and a Unanimous All-American honoring in 2021.
Thibodeaux recorded 35.5 tackles for loss and 19 sacks throughout these three seasons.
This play combined with the fact that he was High School Football Defensive Player of the Year made the Oregon Ducks product a top-three edge rusher in his draft class. Big Blue was fortunate enough to have him fall in their lap at pick No. 5 and hopefully, for the two parties, it will be a match made in heaven.
Currently, Tipico believes that Thibodeaux has the second-best odds to be the best rookie defender in 2022 at +550 odds. This is right after Aidan Hutchinson (the second overall draft pick) and Kyle Hamilton (well regarded as the steal of the draft at pick 14).
The last three Defensive Rookie of the Year winners have been edge rushers and with the surge of importance in pressuring the quarterback it could be very likely that one will win again.
After a disappointing last few seasons from New York, their fans can at least hope for the Giants’ top rookie to win this award.
