Giants, Joe Schoen have plenty of draft capital to work with

The New York Giants have 99 problems but capital in the 2022 NFL draft isn’t one.

Which teams have the most draft capital heading into the 2022 NFL draft? As usual, it’s the teams that have fared poorly on the field of late plus any other team that had managed to game the system in their favor.

The New York Giants, who hold the fifth and seventh overall selection in the draft, are rated third overall in 2022 draft capital by Warren Sharp of Sharp Football.

The grid shows the Giants with nine total picks, four of which are set in stone: Nos. 5 and 7 in Round 1, No. 36 in Round 2 and No. 67 in Round 3.

Nos. 5, 36 and 67 are theirs, while No. 7 was obtained in a draft day trade last year with Chicago. They own another third-round selection as a result of a trade with Miami last year, which is listed as No. 81. Sharp does not have that pick on his list.

The compensatory picks begin at the end of the third round, of which the Giants will have none. They made several trades of mid-to-late round picks that were dependent on certain conditions, which have yet to be determined. When the league announces their remaining compensatory selections, the draft order will be complete.
