While the outside world continues to find new and unique ways to criticize New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, inside the building in East Rutherford, the rookie is doing all the right things.
Hyatt has kept his head down, his face in the playbook and ignored all of the outside noise. He’s focused on working hard and readying himself for the 2023 regular season, where he might have a key role as a deep threat.
On Thursday, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka offered up praise of Hyatt and his improvement this spring, saying he’s “right on schedule” with his development.
“Jalin is doing a nice job. He’s right on schedule. He’s working. He’s growing. That’s one thing you’ve seen from him from the first day in rookie camp, to the next day, then you’re working through this Phase III part of it, is his growth and his familiarity and comfortability with the offense,” Kafka said.
Hyatt has proven to be very coachable despite some anonymous quotes from NFL executives and coaches suggesting otherwise. He’s been personable with the media and handled the bright lights like a seasoned veteran. He’s been everything the criticisms suggested he wouldn’t be.
The Giants would like to see that continue during the season with Hyatt running a full route tree and dominating competition like he did against Alabama last year.
