Steve Wilks has interviewed with Brian Daboll for the job, source confirms, and as @AaronWilson_NFL reported.
Wilks has DC experience in Carolina + Cleveland, was HC in Arizona. Now DC at University of Missouri.
Wilks is the former head coach of the Cardinals back in 2018; he also interviewed with the Giants for the head coaching job that eventually went to Pat Shurmur.
Wilks has been with the University of Missouri this past season as their defensive coordinator. Prior, he was the Carolina Panthers assistant head coach and defensive coordinator before taking the Cardinals job.
After he was fired following a 3-13 record, he served one season as the Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator in 2019. Wilks worked under former Giants interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens, who was the head coach for that one season.
Wilks joins a list of candidates to replace Patrick Graham that includes former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Don Martindale, former Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Sean Desai.
Teryl Austin also interviewed for the position, but he’s expected to be promoted to become the Pittsburgh Steelers next defensive coordinator.
