Giants’ Golden Tate cleared from concussion protocol

Golden Tate makes his return Monday.

New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate was cleared from the league’s concussion protocol on Friday and should in line to play against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14.

Tate will be returning from a concussion that kept him out of the Week 13 loss against the Green Bay Packers. Now, the Giants will have their full arsenal of weapons to go against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday night.

Tate has been solid for the Giants since signing a four-year deal worth $37 million this offseason. Though he missed the first four games of the season due to suspension, he is currently second on the team with four receiving touchdowns and third on the team in both targets (57) and receiving yards (450).

Because Tate was suspended the first four games of the season, this will be the first time he plays with quarterback Eli Manning—the veteran filling in for the injured rookie Daniel Jones.

It also the first time the Giants have their complement of weapons in the form of Tate, Evan Engram, Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard all on the field together.

This is a quasi revenge game for Tate, who finished the final eight games of the 2018 season with the Eagles after he was traded from the Detriot Lions midway through the year.

The Giants are already focusing on the offseason sitting with a 2-10 record, but Tate will make his return after being cleared from the league’s protocol.
