The New York Giants have filled out their 90-man roster and have very little cap room to play with as they hopefully enter the 2020 season.
The NFL salary cap for 2020 has been set at $198.2 million and the Giants have a sliver below $17 million to work with this summer. That does not include the draft pool figure of approximately $13 million, so in essence the Giants are only four million dollars under the ‘Top 51’ cap number.
The Giants selected 10 players in the draft, but seven of them were Day 3 selections — four in Round 7 alone.
The $12.914 million should be allocated for 2020 as follows per the website Spotrac.com:
- Round 1, Pick 4: Andrew Thomas – $5.88 million
- Round 2, Pick 36: Xavier McKinney – $1.525 million
- Round 3, Pick 99: Matthew Peart – $818K
- Round 4, Pick 110: Darnay Holmes – $808K
- Round 5, Pick 150: Shane Lemieux – $697K
- Round 6, Pick 183: Cameron Brown – $659K
- Round 7, Pick 218: Carter Coughlin – $637K
- Round 7, Pick 238: T.J. Brunson – $630K
- Round 7, Pick 247: Chris Williamson – $629K
- Round 7, Pick 255: Tae Crowder – $629K (signed a 4 year, $3,370,490 deal last week)
Keep in mind that as each player is signed, the Giants will have to make a corresponding cut to the 90-man roster if there is no open spot, so the amount of offsetting salary depends on the particular player waived.
