NFL.com editors Ali Bhanpuri, Tom Blair, Gennaro Filice and Dan Parr have evaluated every single snap of every single quarterback from the 2019 regular season and playoffs, and they have finalized their QB Index for last season.
Unsurprisingly, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tied for the No. 1 spot. But what about New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones?
Well, the editors at NFL.com weren’t nearly as kind to Jones, sliding him into spot No. 23.

2019 regular season stats: 13 games | 61.9 pct | 3,027 pass yds | 6.6 ypa | 24 pass TD | 12 INT | 279 rush yds | 2 rush TD | 11 fumbles lost
Parr: Jones became the third rookie of all time to have three or more games throwing four-plus pass TDs (joining Deshaun Watson and Fran Tarkenton). Aside from the fumbles (lost 11, tied for the most in a single season since at least 1992), the once-maligned sixth overall pick of the 2019 draft gave Giants fans reason for optimism.
The turnovers continue to be the one major flaw in Jones’ rookie performance. Had it not been for those — specifically the fumbles — chances are he’d reside much higher up on this index and would be drawing substantially more praise.
Meanwhile, the NFL.com editors were even harder on Eli Manning, who they had ranked at No. 38 on the QB Index.

Filice: Let’s remember the good times from Manning’s final season — specifically, the sole victory over Miami in Week 15. Yeah, he finished the game with more picks (3) than touchdowns (2), but the win brought his career record back to an even 117-117. Another clutch finish from Eli!
Eli’s goodbye against the Miami Dolphins was magical, but to say Manning’s career did not end the way many had hoped would be an understatement. Time will reflect positively on Manning’s career, but for now, most fans are left with the sour taste of 5-6 wasted years.
