On Wednesday, it was revealed that New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, who was playing on a strained hamstring in his right leg, suffered a low-ankle sprain in his left leg in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

While it was obvious that Jones lacked mobility and did not look like himself last week, the second-year signal caller downplayed his injuries to reporters.

“It’s sore, and part of playing the game,” Jones said in reference to his sprained ankle. “But I’m just focused on healing up and doing everything I can to play on Sunday.”

Jones was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. When asked how he felt afterwards, Jones said he’s sticking to the plan.

“I felt good. Just (will) continue to follow the plan and feel good throughout the week and like I said, just get ready to play,” said Jones.

Jones went 11-of-21 for 127 yards and did not have a rushing attempt for the first time in his career. He also fumbled three times while being sacked six times.

Jones appeared to be limping on the other leg in the second half, which prompted the Giants’ coaching staff to lift him in the fourth quarter for veteran backup Colt McCoy.

According to head coach Joe Judge, the Giants are going to wait-and-see how Jones moves in practice and if he can defend himself before giving him the opportunity to play.

“We’ll see how he moves in practice. We’ll see how this progresses throughout the week,” Judge said. “I can tell you that he’s optimistic, but I’m going to tell you right now if his left arm was attached by a rubber band, he’d tell us he’d figure out a way to get it done. So we’ll have to see him through practice this week.”

Adding an ankle injury into the equation with a hamstring issue does not bode well for Jones’ status against the Cleveland Browns. This means McCoy could be making his second start of the season.

A team source told SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano that McCoy received more of the first-team reps in practice on Wednesday and that Jones seemed to be struggling and not moving as well.

If Jones is somehow able to go, Judge says he would not rule out using both quarterbacks in different sub packages if it would help the team.

Flexed into the Sunday Night Football slot at 8:20 p.m. ET, the 5-8 Giants will face the 9-4 Browns, who are coming off a last second loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Giants recently fell back into second place in the NFC East behind the Washington Football Team and must pull off another upset in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Notching a victory will not be an easy task as they’ll either be riding with a banged up Jones, or a backup quarterback in McCoy against a Browns team that has won four out of their last five games.
