Giants add dynamic WR in latest Cynthia Frelund mock draft

In the latest mock draft from NFL Network’s Cynthia Frelund, the New York Giants pass on a cornerback in favor of a dynamic wide receiver.

The New York Giants hold the 25th overall selection in the 2023 NFL draft and there is a ton of debate surrounding which position — or player — they will focus on.

General manager Joe Schoen has done a bang-up job in filling some of the team’s more glaring holes in free agency but several still remain.

NFL Network Analytics Expert Cynthia Frelund, in her latest mock draft, answers the question very succinctly by taking the most dynamic offensive playmaker left on the board — Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers.

Corner or WR? WR or corner? That’s what these past few picks have been all about. I’m sticking with Flowers as the Giants’ pick, with the receiver just edging out the remaining corners.

Outside cornerback is a concern with just Adoree’ Jackson sizing up as a No. 1 and the rest either being unproven or more suited to the slot.

The Giants’ most pressing need is at center, where they have only Ben Bredeson with any experience at the pro level. The center class is strong but most of the targets can be had in the middle rounds of the draft.

Flowers is a smaller, speedy option who the Giants would use in a multitude of roles on offense and on special teams. In effect, hopefully, he’d do what Kadarius Toney was supposed to do.
