Gian Villante set to return vs. Jake Collier at UFC event on Dec. 5

The UFC’s Dec. 5 lineup is shaping up.

Heavyweights [autotag]Gian Villante[/autotag] and [autotag]Jake Collier[/autotag] are set to square off Dec. 5 at a location and venue to be announced later.

People with knowledge of the situation recently confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Villante first mentioned the matchup in a recent interview with Quick Talks.

Both men will look to rebound after failed UFC heavyweight divisional debuts. In the final round of a back-and-forth affair with Maurice Greene in late June, Villante (17-12 MMA, 7-9 UFC) was submitted with an unusual modified choke from the bottom in Round 3.

Collier (11-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC), a 31-year-old Missouri-based fighter, returned from a near two-year absence in July. He was finished by strikes in 45 seconds against UFC newcomer Tom Aspinall.

With the addition, the Dec. 5 lineup includes:

  • Jack Hermansson vs. Darren Till
  • Bethe Correia vs. Yanan Wu
  • Jake Collier vs. Gian Villante
