Get to know top NBA prospects who may join new G League Select Team

The NBA G League is launching a brand new team for top prospects who would prefer to forego the traditional route of college basketball.

Makur Maker, Big

6-foot-11, 19 years old, Hillcrest Prep (Arizona)

Makur Maker is the cousin of 2016 No. 10 overall pick Thon Maker. He is an above-average playmaker for someone his size. The prospect transferred to Hillcrest Prep after playing at Pacific Prep in California earlier this year. When he reclassified to be eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft, his guardian Ed Smith told ESPN that the big would only keep his name in the draft if he is projected as a lottery pick. It is incredibly unlikely that Maker is selected within the first fourteen picks. For what it is worth, however, Smith also told 247 Sports that college is “still on the table” for the prospect.
