Georgia unranked in USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll

UGA baseball stays unranked in baseball coaches poll despite 16-1 start to the season

The Georgia Bulldogs are still unranked despite getting off to the best start in school history. Georgia is 16-1 and went undefeated over the past week. UGA received 38 votes in the March 11 edition of the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll. Georgia received the most votes of any unranked team.

Georgia baseball swept Northern Colorado over the weekend. The Bulldogs also picked up wins over Stetson and Georgia Southern. Star infielder/outfielder Charlie Condon continues to look like a potential No. 1 MLB draft pick. The Georgia offense is rolling and has hit six grand slams in its past six games.

Georgia’s record is impressive, but the Bulldogs have played an easy schedule. Northern Colorado hasn’t won a game all season.

Georgia head coach Wes Johnson is off to a great start in his first season with the Bulldogs. Georgia will have plenty of opportunities to prove itself as the Dawgs open SEC play on March 15 at Kentucky.

The SEC has five of the 10 top teams in the country in LSU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. The SEC is typically baseball’s toughest conference and that appears to be the case in 2024.

Arkansas is the new No. 1 team in the country. Wake Forest, the previous No. 1, fell to No. 5. Georgia baseball’s next game is against Iowa at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia, at 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 12.
