Georgia Southern Eagles College Football Preview 2021: What Will Happen, Season Prediction
Georgia Southern has carved out a nice niche under head coach Chad Lunsford.
He took over in the midst of a lost 2017 season, won two games, and then it all kicked in with three straight winning seasons, 25 victories, and three bowl appearances with two wins.
This year’s version has the potential to be his best team yet – even stronger than the 10-3 2018 version – but it might not have the record to show it.
Set The Georgia Southern Eagles Regular Season Win Total At … 6.5
As long as the quarterback situation is solid, everything else is in place to take when the team did last yearn and improve.
Everyone is getting back experience in this super-senior year, but to return a slew of veterans to a team that runs an offense like Georgia Southern does makes everything even more efficient and effective.
The schedule, though, isn’t going to help.
Georgia Southern’s style is different enough and the team is good enough to beat just about anyone, but playing at Arkansas and Florida Atlantic early, Appalachian State late, and missing ULM – likely one of the Sun Belt’s weaker teams – hurts.
On the plus side, the Eagles get several of the big boys at home. They’re not going to run the table against Louisiana, Arkansas State, Georgia State and Coastal Carolina, and they have to deal with BYU, but they’ll win their share.
It might not be a Sun Belt title season, but Georgia Southern will be a player, it’ll be another bowl year, and once again, being consistently very good will be fun.
