Georgia running back Trevor Etienne DUI charges drops, agrees to plea deal

Etienne has his charges dropped.

Georgia running back Trevor Etienne had DUI charges dropped on Wednesday after he pleaded no contest to reckless driving, underage possession of alcohol, and two other driving-related offenses. The plea took place during a hearing in Athens-Clarke County Municipal Court.

Etienne’s attorney, Kim Stephens, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that the evidence did not support the initial DUI charge, and the solicitor’s office recognized this.

Etienne was initially arrested on March 24 by Athens-Clarke County police for charges including drunken driving, failure to maintain a lane, and having obstructive materials on his vehicle windows. His availability for Georgia’s season opener against Clemson on August 31 remains uncertain. Under Georgia’s team policy, a DUI conviction results in a minimum one-game suspension, as seen when wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint served a one-game suspension for reckless driving in 2023.

Trevor Etienne, who transferred from Florida and is the younger brother of former Clemson star and current Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, is expected to be Georgia’s leading running back this season. At Florida, he accumulated 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns on 249 carries over two seasons.
