Georgia pass rusher plans to enter transfer portal

Georgia football’s first player, for the upcoming transfer portal window, has announced that he intends to enter the transfer portal

Georgia Bulldogs outside linebacker Darris Smith plans to enter the transfer portal. Smith has recorded five tackles in five games this season. He most recently recorded two tackles against Missouri.

The former four-star prospect was rated as the No. 14 edge defender and the No. 15 player in Georgia in the class of 2022, per 247Sports. Smith played football for Appling County High School.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart updated Smith’s status after he left the team earlier in the season.

Darris is focusing on academics and working out and conditioning and doing some things, but he’s not necessarily with us.

Smith has excellent athleticism and it is unclear why he intends to transfer. He could find more playing time at his new home, but if he has issues with his grades, Smith could have trouble finding a new home.

Georgia’s outside linebacker room will move on without Smith. Outside linebacker Jalon Walker, Marvin Jones Jr., Chaz Chambliss and Damon Wilson will continue to play the majority of Georgia’s snaps at outside linebacker.
