Georgia football snubbed in 2020 SEC power rankings

The Georgia Bulldogs finished the 2019 season as the fourth highest ranked team in the country, but aren’t in the top four of the 2020 SEC

The Georgia Bulldogs finished the 2019 season as the fourth highest ranked team in the country. Georgia’s 12-2 season featured numerous big SEC wins and a win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Despite Georgia’s fourth ranking in 2019, it wasn’t good enough to make the top four of SEC Mike’s 2020 SEC football power rankings:

Georgia comes in fifth in SEC Mike’s 2020 power rankings despite beating number three Florida for three straight seasons and defeating Texas A&M last season. It’s understandable for the Dawgs to be behind the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers, but they shouldn’t be behind more teams than that.

UGA returns almost the entire defense that was the best defense in the country in 2019. Kirby Smart and Georgia won’t be depleted of talent on the offensive side of the ball either. The Bulldogs loose Jake Fromm, D’Andre Swift and numerous offensive lineman, but they replace from with Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman, who will add a more dynamic element to UGA’s attack. Look for the Dawgs to feature more run-pass options next season.

My top five SEC power rankings in 2020 are:

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

2. LSU (number one if they land D’Eriq King) Tigers

3. Georgia Bulldogs

4. Florida Gators

5. Texas A&M Aggies
