Georgia football rookie DB scores two points

A former Georgia Bulldogs DB in the NFL accomplishes a rare feat.

Former Georgia Bulldog Kamari Lassiter has already made a major impact for the Houston Texans in just his rookie season. After being drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, he beat out former Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah for the starting job.

One of Lassiter’s top plays this season occurred on Christmas vs. the Baltimore Ravens. The Texans pinned the Ravens at their own three-yard line when Lassiter tackled former legendary Alabama running back Derrick Henry in the end zone for a safety. Those two points were the Texans’ only points in their 31-2 defeat to the Ravens.

Lassiter is currently tied for ninth in defensive rookie of the year odds, according to BetMGM. He is also ranked as the 10th rookie DB according to PFF, with a 70.1 grade (subscription required). He has shown potential as a rookie, and next year, Georgia Bulldogs fans could be excited about his development.
