Gators to host Colorado DB commit on two future visits

Florida isn’t slowing down its pursuit of Colorado four-star cornerback commit Ju’Juan Johnson and will get him on campus twice over the coming months.

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes earned a major victory on the recruiting trail at the beginning of February with the commitment of four-star cornerback [autotag]Ju’Juan Johnson[/autotag]. But Florida’s recruiting staff doesn’t simply give up when a kid verbally pledges his services to another program.

While no dates have been set, Johnson is set to make two visits to the Swamp in the coming future, according to Gators Online, meaning there is still a chance that the Gators could flip him.

“Unofficial next month and then we will set up an official after that,” Johnson said of Florida on Friday. “My people are setting it up. I’ll let you know as soon as I get the date though.”

While Sanders might be the appeal for a top cornerback prospect, UF defensive backs coach Corey Raymond’s reputation might be good enough to compete with Prime Time. Playing at Florida and in the SEC also presents different opportunities than Colorado and the Pac-12 do, which could help Raymond out.

The official visit is big news. Recruits only get five, and Johnson doesn’t have to let Florida try and wow him now that he’s verbally committed. Johnson is from Louisiana and Florida’s staff features several ties to the state.

The On3 industry ranking has Johnson at No. 174 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 16 among cornerbacks. He’s also ranked the fifth-best player in the state of Louisiana.
