Gators punter earns ‘Ray’s 8’ recognition for Week 6 performance

For the second time this fall, Jeremy Crawshaw earned a spot on the exclusive “Ray’s 8” list of top punters in college football.

The Ray Guy Award’s “Ray’s 8” for college football’s Week 6 action was announced on Tuesday, which included Florida Gators punter Jeremy Crawshaw for the second time this season following a superb effort against the UCF Knights.

The specialist from New South Wales, Australia, also earned a nod after his Week 1 effort against the Miami Hurricanes — also in the Swamp.

Crawshaw punted a total of four times against the Knights on Saturday, booting two for over 50 yards while landing three of those punts inside of the opponent’s 20-yard line. The latter includes an amazing kick that downed at the UCF three-yard line to start a drive in the second quarter.

So far this fall, the Aussie standout has punted 17 times in five games 777 total punt yards — good for a 45.7-yard average that ranks 27th in FBS this season.

Other players on ‘Ray’s 8’ list

The other seven players who made the exclusive list were Fraser Masin (Ole Miss Rebels), Kade Reynoldson (Duke Blue Devils), Lachlan Wilson (California Golden Bears), Peter Moore (Virginia Tech Hokies), Riley Riethman (Navy Midshipmen), Stephen Kotsanlee (Utah State Aggies) and Tyle Pastula (San Diego State Aztecs).

Next up for Florida

The Gators head to Knoxville next week to resume Southeastern Conference play against the Tennessee Volunteers. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
