We have officially reached the dog days of summer as a new week begins, with the July calendar strolling through its waning week. Although we have been deprived of the American pastime thus far — with exception of the KBO and the NPB as well — Major League Baseball season could be right around the corner if all goes well.
The truncated 60-game season scheduled by MLB is set to start on July 25 under the strict protocol set to mitigate the introduction and spread of COVID-19 among its players and staff. However, it has been a rocky road up to this point, with questions about how well the system they have set up will work. Nonetheless, it appears that by the end of the week the sweet sounds of wooden bats cracking and leather striking leather will return to our lives.
In the meantime, here is the news from the Gator Nation.
