Gators getting in-state IOL in town for official visit

After more than half a dozen unofficial visits to the University of Florida, interior offensive lineman Jake Guarnera has set a date for his official visit with the Gators.

After stopping by the Swamp twice last week, Ponte Vedra interior offensive lineman [autotag]Jake Guarnera[/autotag] has set an official visit date with the Florida Gators, according to Corey Bender of Gators Online.

“Last weekend of June,” Guarnera said. “I have others scheduled. I’m releasing top schools soon.”

Guarnera has now been to Florida seven times, so it’s not too surprising to learn that the Gators will be getting one of five official visits. The expectation is that UF also makes his top schools given recent developments. The exact dates of his trip are June 23-25.

He holds offers from Florida State, Michigan, Miami and Penn State among others, but it’s Florida that sits in the lead with 40.4% odds to land him, according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine. Guarnera himself says that UF is “very high” on his list.

Proximity has played a big role in Guarnera’s recruitment. Living just 90 minutes from the Swamp, he’s able to stop by whenever he wants and the staff is available. The easy access Guarnera has to the Gators should keep them near the top until the very end.

Right now, Florida is looking at him as a potential center, but Guarenera says he could end up playing guard too.

A consensus three-star recruit, Guarnera is ranked No. 627 overall on the On3 industry ranking and is No. 40 among interior offensive linemen in the class of 2024. The 247Sports composite is a bit more bullish on him at No. 549 overall and No. 31 at his position.
