Garrett Nussmeier has a message for potential LSU recruits

If you want to play in the NFL, Garrett Nussmeier said LSU is the place to be.

Recruiting has always been a complex process, and it’s only had more layers added to it in the NIL era.

But while money can be a key inducement for getting high school players to sign, it’s not the only important factor. Players also want to go to programs with track records of developing future NFL stars, and when it comes to that question, few schools can hold a candle to LSU.

Quarterback [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] had a clear message to potential Tigers recruits while talking to reporters at the Manning Passing Academy: LSU will develop you into an elite player. Nussmeier pointed directly to [autotag]Jack Marucci[/autotag], LSU’s director of performance innovation, calling him a “mad scientist.”

“Jack Marucci has done an unbelievable job. He’s like a mad scientist down there,” Nussmeier said. “He’s always coming up with something to help us get better. And it’s a huge advantage for us at LSU.

“So any recruits out there: LSU is where you need to be. Not just from what we’ve proven with our track record, but they call it NFLSU for a reason, and we have people in the entire building that all they care about is making us better players. Helping us be better mentally, physically, strength-wise, we have the best strength staff in the country.

“If you’re questioning where you need to be, this NIL money is cool and all, but the real money is in the league. And you want to be produced, you want to be developed, LSU is where you need to be.”

That’s certainly a compelling sales pitch, and it’s backed up by recent history as LSU has produced quite a few big-time draft prospects including three first-round picks in this year’s.
