After a COVID-19 stricken season, the Texas Longhorns had an up and down year in 2020.
The season was marred by too many close calls where seven of their games had just one possession results. These close finishes and stagnant results were primary factors in the decision to not bring back head coach Tom Herman despite a solid finish to the season that included an impressive win in the Alamo Bowl.
This year has already been kind to the Texas football program. The Longhorns hired a national championship offensive coordinator in Steve Sarkisian as head coach, they’ve gained momentum on the recruiting trail with an early five-star commitment, and were given a favorable football schedule for the upcoming season.
When the official schedule was released, each Longhorns Wire staff member predicted what Texas’ record could look like under the first-year head coach. After predicting a 9-3 overall record for Texas next season, I’ve now laid out how that could play out.
