After a close loss in game one, the Aggies bounced back to beat Mississippi State, evening the series. Freshman Jace LaViolette provided all the offense the Aggies needed, and the defense provided an error-free game as they went on to win the game 6-4.
The Aggies got the game rolling with a LaViolette two-run homer with two outs for the first points of the game. Mississippi State answered right back with their two runs into the second inning. LaViolette went yard a second time to put Texas A&M ahead 3-2.

Then after five scoreless innings, the Aggies found themselves down 3-4 going into the top of the ninth. Jack Moss hit a single with one out, and Trevor Warner followed suit with a single of his own, putting a runner on the corners. Next, LaViolette hit his record-setting 18th home run of the season, bringing in three runs and giving the Aggies a 6-4 lead.
Texas A&M made fans sweat when they walked consecutive batters, putting the winning run at the plate. Coach Schlossnagle switched to Evan Aschenbeck to get the final two outs, and that’s precisely what happened. The win is another step towards the Aggies solidifying their seeding in postseason play.
