Arkansas stays alive, eliminates Notre Dame in NCAA Regional

Arkansas will get another shot at Oregon on Sunday with a trip to the Super Regionals on the line.

The top seed will live one more day, at least.

Arkansas beat Notre Dame on Saturday night, 5-0, to stave off elimination and remove the Fighting Irish from the Fayetteville Regional. Arkansas will play Oregon, the team that beat the Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon to send them to loser’s bracket. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Razorbacks will have to beat Oregon twice on Sunday to advance to the Super Regionals. Arkansas has made it to that round each of the last two seasons but has been elimiated there both times.

The hometown Hogs plated three runs in the seventh to stay alive for one more day and send Notre Dame home packing.

Notre Dame had two runners on with nobody out and trailed by just two runes in the sixth. They wouldn’t score.

Now, a second – and perhaps a third – game against the Ducks awaits.
