Game Recap: Baseball – Texas A&M vs Prairie View A&M

A ten-run 4th inning full of home runs lifted the Aggies over Prairie View A&M

Lucky number 13 is the winning number in the Aggies’ last three wins. Texas A&M (23-14) overcome an early 3-0 deficit to run rule the Prairie View A&M Panthers (14-22) 13-3 in the midweek contest.

The Aggies once again gave up three early runs and five hits through the first two innings causing Coach Schlossnagle to pull his starting pitcher early for Matt Dillard. Needing to do a little work to keep the game close Kaeden Kent got the ball rolling for Texas A&M with an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning then hit an RBI double in the third to cut the lead to 3-2.

Inning four is where Texas A&M did most of their damage. After a two-run home run by Kent and a single by Jordan Thompson, the Panthers walked the next four batters for two free scores. With no outs and bases loaded, Brett Minnich launched a ball out of the park for a grand slam to go up 10-3.

The scoring rounded out with a Thompson two-run homer with two outs to extend the lead to 12-3. A Kent sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth put the Panthers in run rule territory after the Aggies went up 13-3 going into the seventh inning.

With one out Prairie View A&M hit a single then the Aggie pitcher hit the next batter. Now, with a runner in scoring position all the Prairie View needed was a hard enough hit to get a run and extend the game. Instead, the batter hit into a double play ending the game in the top of the seventh inning.

Final Score: Aggies 13, Panthers 3 – W: Dillard, Matt (1-0); L: Breeden, Elijah (1-3)
