The end of the regular season is finally upon us as Florida basketball hosts the Kentucky Wildcats to wrap up its 2021-22 schedule. It has been a frustrating one for the Gators, which began strong but quickly sputtered before Southeastern Conference competition began, leaving the Orange and Blue teetering on the NCAA Tournament bubble.
The ‘Cats come in ranked No. 6 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and No. 7 in the AP Poll while holding the No. 5 spot in the NET rankings. The Gators, on the other hand, are voteless in both polls and currently sit outside of the NET top 50 at No. 51. Based on those rankings, Saturday’s tangle qualifies as a Quadrant 1 game for both schools.
In many ways, Florida’s final game is a must-win situation if the team is going to take Mike White to his fifth-straight trip to the Big Dance. Their chances probably will not be completely tanked if they lose — they will have a chance to make amends for the loss in the SEC Tournament — but there are some who think that even a win does not guarantee them a ticket to the tournament. Unfortunately, the oddsmakers are not optimistic about the outcome.
The Tipico Sportsbook favors the Wildcats by 5.5-points over the Gators while the over/under is set at 142.5. The money lines for Kentucky and Florida are minus-240 and plus-190, respectively, as of 9 a.m. EST.
