As originally reported by Christina Chambers of WBRC news in Birmingham, Galu Tagovailoa, the father of Tua and Taulia, announced that he believes Taulia is ready to compete for the starting quarterback job in 2020.

“You have to love competition. Competition is a healthy thing. He knows that. It drives him to get better,” Galu Tagovailoa said. “I think it’s going to be a really good transition. He’s always been known as Tua’s little brother, and it’s a good thing, he talks a lot with his brother, but they talk a lot about how things are going to be and he understands how he has to step up as Taulia as a player and compete.”

This competition should be an interesting one to watch, as Nick Saban and his coaching staff will have a big decision to make.

It seems as if the competition will be between three quarterbacks: Mac Jones, Taulia Tagovailoa and Bryce Young.

There is plenty of time until they start to compete on the practice field, but we can already tell that this isn’t going to be easy on the coaches.

As Galu said, Taulia has always been known as Tua’s little brother. If he wants to be known for his playing abilities rather than who his brother is, he has to put on a show during preseason practices and show that he won’t settle for just replacing his brother.
