G League: Quinndary Weatherspoon drops 33 points for Santa Cruz Warriors vs. South Bay Lakers

During a battle between the Santa Cruz Warriors and South Bay Lakers, two-way guard Quinndary Weatherspoon dropped 33 points.

With the Golden State Warriors getting the weekend off, their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz took center stage on Sunday in a tilt against the South Bay Lakers.

After a back and forth battle, Sunday’s contest came down to the wire between Santa Cruz and South Bay. After Lakers guard Mac McClung missed a jumper, Paris Bass punched home a go-ahead put-back dunk with 1.6 seconds remaining on the clock to seal the game for South Bay, 112-110.

McClung tallied a game-high 37 points on 15-of-28 shooting from the floor with six assists, five rebounds and four steals in 39 minutes for South Bay.

Golden State two-way guard Quinndary Weatherspoon answered McClung with 33 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field with six boards and three steals in 33 minutes.

Jerome Robinson added 23 points and LJ Figueroa tacked on 21 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory over South Bay. Following Sunday’s loss, Santa Cruz’s record dropped to 5-9 on the season.
