Frogs hammer Hogs to send Arkansas to loser’s bracket

Tre Richardson had a legendary day with three homers, including two grand slams as TCU beat the Razorbacks.

Tre Richardson hit three home runs and had 11 RBI as TCU blasted Arkansas on Sunday afternoon in the Fayetteville Regional, 20-5.

The Razorbacks will play Santa Clara in a win-or-go-home game at 8 p.m. TCU will then get the winner on Monday and will need just one victory to reach the Super Regionals, whereas the other team would need to beat the Horned Frogs twice.

Things started badly and only became worse for the host team Razorbacks. TCU scored six runs in the first, five in the second and then three in the third to take a 14-1 lead early.

Richardson, the TCU second baseman, went 5 for 6 at the plate with two grand slams. Braden Taylor went 4 fo6 6 with four RBI and a home run with four runs.

Hagen Smith, the All-SEC starter who was Arkansas’ ace all year long, pitched just one inning. He allowed the eight runs on six hits and two walks.

Tavian Josenberger and Hudson Polk are the only Arkansas players who had more than a single base knock.
