Freshman safety Brandyn Hillman leaves Notre Dame before enrolling

Could Notre Dame’s loss become USC’s gain?

Portsmouth (Va.) Churchland four-star athlete/safety Brandyn Hillman committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Dec. 7, 2022 as an early enrollee. Now he is leaving the program.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound recruit shared on Sunday that he was granted a release from his National Letter of Intent with Notre Dame.

“Due to personal reasons, I have asked for and been granted my release from my NLI with the University of Notre Dame,” he wrote. “I would like to thank head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame staff for their interest.

The Virginia native is the No. 137 overall prospect, the No. 5 athlete, and the No. 4 player in the state of Virginia. He projects as a safety at the next level.

Hillman will be a target for USC this offseason. He also has also offers from LSU, Kentucky, Ohio State  Indiana, Virginia Tech, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
