Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt says ‘super power’ Texas will ‘own’ college football with possible dynasty

Calling Texas college football’s ‘super power’, Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt thinks the Longhorns will ‘own’ the sport with a possible dynasty.

Fox Sports lead analyst Joel Klatt is very high on the Texas Longhorns. Besides, thinking Texas has the best uniforms in college football, Klatt thinks the Horns are set up for a possible dynasty run.

The former Colorado QB also thinks UT has a good chance to win the national title this year. “Texas is a legit national championship caliber team,” Klatt told the Hardline on KTCK the Ticket in Dallas.

But it’s how the Longhorns have set themselves up for a strong future Klatt seems most impressed by.

“I think the future, the next few years, is going to owned by Texas. Now, whether they win national championships or not, I’m not totally sure. But I think it’s pretty clear Texas is the super power.” — Joel Klatt

Klatt thinks Texas could produce a dynasty over the next few years, primarily because they’ve overcome some hurdles to get to the point they are at now.

“There’s always a hurdle somewhere along the way. And then once you clear that hurdle, there’s this period of dominance for teams that roll off dynasties. To me, I think last year is going to be that hurdle for Texas. They had to get there and see it. They lost to a team that probably should have won against Washington. Now you go back and you’re like, ‘We’ve felt it. We know it. We’ve now been to college station after a 13-year drought with everything on the line.’ This feels like a team that is now seasoned. That is steeled for this type of a run.” — Joel Klatt

Joel Klatt speaks on Fox Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff pregame show.

Klatt cited some examples of dynasty teams that had to overcome tough obstacles that went on for years of sustained dominance.

“It’s rare when a team in any sport just pops up and wins their first try and then is dominant. Even Alabama with Nick Saban had to get past Tim Tebow and Florida. The Bulls had to get over the Pistons and the Pistons had to get over the Celtics in the NBA.” — Joel Klatt

Texas’s next hurdle is a rematch with Georgia in the SEC Championship Game Saturday at 3 PM CT at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
