Four-star quarterback Stone Saunders (who threw 54 touchdown passes last season as a sophomore) will visit Rutgers football on Tuesday

Stone Saunders will visit Rutgers football on Tuesday.

Stone Saunders will be taking a visit to Rutgers on Tuesday, a big piece of news for the Scarlet Knights as they hope to get in early on one of the nation’s top underclassmen quarterbacks.

Saunders is a tremendous quarterback prospect from Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, PA). He is a four-star and ranked the fourth-best player in Pennsylvania in the class of 2025 according to Rivals. He holds a strong offer list that includes Power Five offers from Boston College, Colorado, Duke, Minnesota, Michigan, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.

Last season as a sophomore, Saunders threw for 3,583 yards, completing 68.7 percent of his passes. He had 54 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Saunders was offered last year by Minnesota. At the time, Minnesota’s offensive coordinator was Kirk Ciarrocca, who now holds the same job with Rutgers.

Ciarrocca is widely regarded as one of the top offensive coordinators in college football and a teacher of the game.

As part of the 2021 recruiting class, Rutgers landed four-star quarterback Gavin Wimsatt. After battling some injuries last season, Wimsatt is now the presumptive starter when Rutgers opens the season at home against Northwestern.
