Four-star DL TJ Lindsey commits to Auburn

Auburn beats out Texas and Miami for the talented 2024 defensive lineman.

Auburn football’s 2024 class got better on Saturday.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and his staff have worked hard this summer to convince four-star defensive lineman [autotag]TJ Lindsey[/autotag] that he should continue his football career at Auburn. Their hard work has paid off, as Lindsey announced his commitment to the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

Lindsey’s commitment is a win for Auburn’s staff, as they won a tight race with Texas A&M, who was considered to be the favorite just two weeks ago. Cole Pinkston of On3 submitted a prediction on July 28 in favor of Auburn, but Texas A&M still had the lead at that point. Over the last two weeks, Auburn’s chances increased from 34.3% to 85.7%, which led to them jumping Texas A&M in the race.

Crystal ball predictions from 247Sports began to pour in during the final days of July, as Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and Auburn recruiting insider Christian Clemente both forecasted Lindsey to commit to Auburn. Texas A&M insider Andrew Hattersley also submitted a crystal ball prediction on Aug. 8 that favored Auburn.

Lindsey told 247Sports ahead of his commitment that the coaching staff at Auburn makes him feel like a priority.

“Really everything. Everything from Coach Freeze to Coach Garrett, both the realest coaches I’ve ever had in the process,” Lindsey said. “They’ll tell you brutally honest and that definitely made me feel like a priority. Which everybody did in that list, but that one stuck out. Just the opportunity on the field and off the field. Things I can do, it was huge.”

Lindsey picks Auburn over Texas and Miami. He is a four-star industry-rated defensive lineman from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida by way of Bryant, Arkansas. He is the nation’s No. 30 defensive lineman and No. 48 player from the state of Florida for the 2024 recruiting cycle.
