Four-star DL commits to Texas despite late Florida push

The Gators made efforts to woo D’Antre Robinson away from Texas, but the four-star defensive lineman committed to the Longhorns Thursday.

The Florida Gators were unable to lure four-star defensive lineman [autotag]D’Antre Robinson[/autotag] away from a commitment to the University of Texas on Thursday.

Robinson has long been considered a Texas lean, but Florida surged late in the race, according to On3’s Keith Niebuhr. There was some optimism from UF heading into the decision. Robinson grew up a Gator fan and plays high school relatively close by in Orlando, but he decided to pick Texas instead of staying in-state.

“It felt like home on my unofficial and official visit,” Robinson said to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Talking to coach Sark with my mom made it even better because he touched my mom’s heart while talking and made her tear up.”

Robinson is a four-star recruit, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s ranked No. 353 overall in the class of 2024 and is No. 37 among defensive lineman. He’s also No. 50 among prep players out of Florida.

Florida already has four defensive linemen under commitment from the class of 2024 — four-stars Kendall Jackson, Nasir Johnson and Amaris Williams, and three-star Michai Boireau. An overcrowded room might have contributed to Robinson’s final decision.
