Four members of NFL All-Decade team once suited up for Raiders

Monday the NFL and the Pro Football Hall of Fame put out there All-Decade team for the 2010-19 decade. Although there were no current Raiders players to make the team, there were four former Raiders, two of whom were original Raiders.

The original Raiders are LB Khalil Mack and P Shane Lechler. The other two are RB Marshawn Lynch and KR Cordarrelle Patterson. Antonio Brown also made the team, but we’re not counting him because he never suited up for the team.

Mack. was the team’s pick at 4th overall in the 2014 draft. He made three Pro Bowls and was named All-Pro twice, including becoming the only ever player named All-Pro at two different positions (LB, DE). He was and likely is, the best pass rusher in the NFL today.

Unfortunately, he wanted to be paid like it and so Jon Gruden traded him to Chicago. He’s made two straight Pro Bowls and picked up his third All-Pro nod the past two seasons for the Bears.

Lechler was drafted by the Raiders in 2000 during Gruden’s first stint as head coach in Oakland. He spent the first 13 years of his career with the Raiders, making seven Pro Bowls and being named All-Pro six times.

In 2013 at the age of 37, he had the chance to play for his hometown Houston Texans and he took it. He played his final five seasons for the Texans, retiring after the 2017 season. Even in his final season at the age of 41, he was averaging 49.0 yards per punt.

Lynch came out of retirement to play for his hometown Raiders in 2017. He ran for 891 yards on 207 carries (4.3 yards per carry) with seven touchdowns in his first season back. He returned in 2018, but his season was cut short by a groin injury after six games.

Patterson played one season for the Raiders in 2017, coming off four seasons with the Vikings in which he was named an All-Pro twice, both as a kick returner. He was again named an All-Pro this past season for the Bears.
