Four Longhorns named to Big 12’s All-Decade baseball team

Kody Clemens, Mark Payton, Taylor Jungmann, and Corey Knebel are named to D1 Baseball’s Big 12 All-Decade team.

Corey Knebel, RP

Playing for the Longhorns in 2011 all the way through 2013, Knebel had some insane seasons for Texas. He burst onto the scene in his freshman year, throwing 55.2 innings while having a 1.13 ERA. What was maybe even more impressive was his K/BB ratio, where he threw 61 strikeouts and only let up 12 walks.

While his ERA got higher in his next two seasons, he was able to throw more innings for the Longhorns. In 2012 and 2013, he threw a combined 113.2 innings, recording a 2.08 ERA his sophomore season and a 3.38 ERA his junior year.

Currently playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Knebel has played on their major league roster for four years now. Spending one year with the Detroit Tigers, he has 224 career major league games. Used as a relief pitcher both in the majors and in college, he recorded 37 career saves while at Texas.
