Five Big Ten programs are among the top 15 in the nation with the best percentage at making the College Football Playoff, according to ESPN.
The Big Ten, with five teams in the top 11 of the most recent USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, has the same five programs in the top 11 of the ESPN college football playoff predictor. The SEC has three programs in the predictor with the ACC and Big 12 each having two schools represented.
Michigan, ranked sixth in the nation in this week’s USA TODAY Sports poll, has the fifth-best percentage chance of making the College Football Playoff at 38 percent according to ESPN. Ohio State, ranked No. 5 in the poll, has ESPN’s sixth-best chance at the playoff at 36 percent.
Michigan State is at 10 percent (eighth-best odds) with Penn State (five percent) and Iowa (four percent) rounding out the Big Ten’s representation in the list.

What do the first four Big Ten programs have in common? Rutgers football. In the first three weeks of their conference schedule, Rutgers played Michigan, Ohio State, and Michigan State. They will also play at Penn State next month.
