Former Vols’ running back announces retirement

Former Tennessee running back announces retirement.

Former Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Hurd was signed by New England on July 25.

Hurd played for the Vols from 2014-16. He transferred to Baylor and played for the Bears in 2018 after redshirting in 2017.

Hurd left Tennessee ranked sixth in career rushing yards (2,638). He earned 2016 Outback Bowl MVP, 2015 All-SEC Associated Press Second Team and 2015 All-SEC Coaches Second Team honors.

The former Vol came to Tennessee from Beech High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He played in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Game.

Hurd was selected by San Francisco in the third-round of the 2019 NFL draft (No. 67 overall).
