McNeese State defeated Tarleton State, 40-37 in double-overtime, Saturday to kick off the 2021 FCS spring football season.
McNeese State faced a 14-point deficit with under three minutes remaining in the contest.
Cody Orgeron threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, while scoring on a 19-yard run in the second overtime, leading the Cowboys to victory.
Orgeron is the son of LSU head coach and former Tennessee assistant Ed Orgeron.

Former Tennessee wide receivers coach Frank Wilson is in his first season as McNeese State’s head coach.
Wilson coached alongside Orgeron at Tennessee in 2009 under Lane Kiffin.
