Former Vikings DE Jared Allen named a Pro Football Hall of Fame semifinalist

Jared Allen is a semifinalist.

Former Vikings DE Jared Allen fell just short of a Hall of Fame honoree for the class of 2021, his first year of eligibility.

Now, Allen’s name is going through the selection process again. The Pro Football Hall of Fame named the defensive end a semifinalist for the class of 2022.

Allen is among 26 modern-era players who made it to the semifinals. The class of 2022 has seven players who made it this far in their first year of eligibility: WR Anquan Boldin, returner Devin Hester, WR Andre Johnson, edge Robert Mathis, WR Steve Smith, edge DeMarcus Ware and DT Vince Wilfork.

Allen came to Minnesota in 2008 after playing for Kansas City. He had 22 sacks in 2011 and had more than 14 sacks in three different seasons with the Vikings. Allen certainly has a case for a Hall of Fame career. The players who end up making it will be enshrined this August in Canton, Ohio.
