Former USC star Amon Ra-St Brown delivered one of the great seasons in Lions history

Only one other Detroit Lion receiver has ever reached the milestones Amon-Ra St. Brown achieved in 2023.

Pro Bowl rosters were announced a few days ago, which was cause for many NFL players to celebrate. Others had a right to be upset that they weren’t selected for the event.

Former USC star and current Detroit Lion wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was on the outside looking in. He was snubbed in the Pro Bowl selection process, and he wasn’t thrilled.

“The receivers that got picked, they’re great players, but I was hot,” said St. Brown to Eric Woodyard of ESPN. Brown has 112 receptions for 1,371 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Detroit Lions this season.

The NFC’s Pro Bowl roster features A.J. Brown, CeeDee Lamb, Mike Evans and rookie Puka Nacua at receiver. While each of those players is deserving in their own right, it’s hard not to notice the absence of both St. Brown and Brandon Aiyuk from that list after the years they had.

Consider this fact below: St. Brown is one of only two receivers in the history of the Lions — one of the NFL’s oldest franchises — to hit the 100-1,000-10 slash line (receptions, yards, touchdowns) in a season:

That should have been good enough for the Pro Bowl.
